Michael Ances
trumpet, french horn, trombone, baritone horn, tuba

 

Mr. Ances received his Masters in Music Education from Western Connecticut Statue University in May 2006, and two Bachelors Degrees from University of Connecticut before that. He is a full time teacher in the Monroe public school system, and is currently the Band Director at the Jockey Hollow Middle School. In that position, he directs 7th and 8th grade bands, a Wind Ensemble, a Jazz Ensemble, a marching band, and chamber ensembles. Furthermore, while most students and teachers are vacationing during the summer, Mr. Ances devotes time to teaching at Western Connecticut's Summer Music Program. He conducted the trumpet placement auditions, and directed a Jazz Band of high school and middle school musicians.

Mr. Ances has a strong interest in providing a well-rounded education to children and demonstrates that by serving on the Board of Education in Monroe, CT, which he has done since 1997. In addition, he has played a leadership role in the Western Region Middle School Festival for the CMEA (Connecticut Music Educators' Association) for seven years. Mr. Ances lives in Southbury with his wife, Leigh, and his sons, Hunter and Spencer.


Mr. Ances began teaching at the Renaissance Center in 2006.
