Winter / Spring 2010 SESSION WORKSHOPS

African Drumming Circle will continue to meet monthly on Monday evenings starting at 7:00 p.m. with Jan Gregory. This is a drop-in circle, and open to both adults and older children. Beginners are welcome, and drums are available to borrow. Experience the joyful community that emerges when we drum together!
Cost: $15 per adult per session
Dates this winter and spring: February 1, March 1, April 5, May 3, and June 7

Broadway Performance -- To sing & act within a theatrical scene means a performer must create a character both vocally and physically. This group workshop for boys and girls will focus on learning and performing the skills & techniques necessary to accomplish this. The course will result in a live performance of selected songs called "Disney Blockbusters," for family and friends, at the end of the session. All voices and ability levels are welcome for ages 5 - 10, but it is helpful if they can read the words.
Time: Wednesdays, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Dates: 10 weeks beginning January 27 (no class 2/17)
Cost: $170, including materials
Instructor: Kenneth Lundquist, Jr.

Cabaret Performance – For singers of age 10 through high school, each participant will select songs that are appropriate to their specific talent, and through the direction and coaching offered by the instructor, build the necessary vocal and physical character to properly exhibit the songs. The course will result in a live performance by each student, for an audience of family and friends, at the end of the session. This is an excellent way to prepare for auditions for musical theater!
Time: Wednesdays, 7:30 – 8:45 p.m.
Dates: 10 weeks beginning January 27 (no class 2/17)
Cost: $170. No materials necessary; students bring their own music.
Instructor: Kenneth Lundquist, Jr.

Songwriting – This class will teach a budding musician how to write a song, perfect the composition, accompany the lyrics, and perform the song, if it gets to that point. Each student will have the opportunity to write and perform at least one song, and perform it for an audience at the end of the session. All ages, voices, and ability levels are welcome.
Time: Fridays, 6:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Dates: 10 weeks beginning January 29 (no class 2/19 or 4/2)
Cost: $150
Instructor: Kenneth Lundquist, Jr.

Piano Lab -- Come experience our digital Yamaha keyboards, which allow a small group of students to experience both private, one-on-one instruction as well as group playing. We encourage this class for young students who are planning independent study on the piano, and we have had lots of fun and success with adults too! We will accept late registrants to the Adult Intermediate class, which has already begun.
